Job Description: Under the leadership of the department director and assigned supervisor, the certified medical coder maintains medical record integrity through coding and abstracting of confidential patient medical records according to established policies and procedures. Experience Preference of two years coding experience in an acute care facility. Effective interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with all levels of hospital personnel. Organization and prioritization skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Analytical skills. Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of Confidentiality laws and HIPAA regulations. Ability to work under pressure with high degree of accuracy. Education As necessary to obtain required certification. Licensure/Certifications Must be certified RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or CPC credential.
