Hours of Work : 7pm-7am Days Of Week : 3 shifts a week, rotating weekends Work Shift : 12X3 Day (United States of America) Job Description : Age Specific Care Considerations Adults: 18 years - 35 years Adults: 35 years - 65 years Adults: 65 years Children D: 12 years - 18 years Education Graduate from a certified nursing assistant program or certified medical assistant program Or 1 year experience as a nursing assistant in a comparable healthcare facility; Or Nursing student who documents completion of the first semester of the Nursing Program; Or documented military experience as a medic/corpsman; Or foreign Nursing graduate not currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the U.S. High school Diploma or Equivalent preferred Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred) Certification of successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Program preferred Healthcare Provider CPR certification required Related Work Experience and Other Skills Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to change. Able to develop and maintain good working relationships with all levels of staff, patients and family members Able to follow oral and written instructions Demonstrates accountability for own actions. Demonstrates compliance with hospital dress code. Demonstrates initiative, is a self starter. Is able to work independently, prioritizing and organizing workload effectively to complete tasks within the time frames delegated. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terms and names of medications. Demonstrates understanding of MHD guidelines and reference, Infection Control guidelines, and MHS safety guidelines. Proactive not reactive, analyzes problems accurately, develops recommendations and takes appropriate actions to solve problems. Work Experience: No work experience required if currently certified as a nursing or medical assistant Physical Demands and Work Environment General Activity: Sit: 1/3 to 2/3 of time General Activity: Standing Stationary: 1/3 to 2/3 of time General Activity: Talk: Up to 1/3 of time General Activity: Walking: 1/3 to 2/3 of time Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Allergic Irritants Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Blood and Body Fluids: Category I Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Infectious Diseases Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Respiratory Irritants Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Skin Irritants Hazardous Conditions: Use of Electrical Equipment Hazardous Conditions: Use of Sharp Utensils Motion: Bend: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Carry: Up to 25 lbs.: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Climb: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Lift: Up to 25 lbs.: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Push/Pull: Up to 100 lbs.: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Reach: Up to 1/3 of time Sensory Demands: Hearing Normal Noise Level Sensory Demands: Hearing Occasional Loud Noise Sensory Demands: Vision Essential Use of hands to finger, handle or feel: 2/3 or more of time Work Environment: Works Indoors Job Roles PATIENT CARE INTERN If specially trained to do, performs additional functions for patients, specifically delineated for assigned unit: Lab specimens collected; appropriately labeled, and delivered to lab in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate safety measures to prevent patient and staff injury; Communicates results of selected tests to professional staff in a timely manner; Conforms to safety standards dictated by regulatory agencies i.e. safety manuals, MSD sheets, OSHA issues. - Maintains clean work environment, adequate equipment and supplies: Equipment is kept in good working condition; Related supplies are kept clean, and are at desired par levels. - Performs patient care activities delegated and supervised by the professional staff: Activities of daily living such as baths, oral hygiene, and oral feedings performed to satisfaction of patient and professional staff; Patient mobility performed (i.e. turning, lifting, moving) utilizing appropriate safety measures to prevent patient and self injury; Patient meals and nourishments are offered, administered, and recorded in a timely manner; Assists Nursing staff with admission, discharge, transfer, and transport of patients. - Respond effectively in emergencies and assists in prevention of patient injury: Initiates CPR when appropriate; Utilizes side rails and restraints to prevent patient injury; Reports to professional staff patients at increased risk for injury. - zOther duties as assigned Methodist Dallas Medical Center is one of North Texas’ best places to work.
