What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barn Staff / Wrangler position at 1000 Acres Ranch?
Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and passionate Barn Staff / Wranglers to join our team. Part-time and Full-time positions available.

This role involves caring for animals, maintaining the barn, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment for livestock, staff and guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and customer service, with the ability to operate a tractor and work independently and with others to ensure all jobs are done completely and efficiently.
Pay is determined by experience and other qualifications. Gratuity from guests are not factored in but are a perk of the job.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and health monitoring.
- Brushing, tacking and untacking of multiple horses in a timely manner.
- Daily paddock cleaning
- Assist in the maintenance of barns, pastures, and other facilities.
- Ensure safety of all riders while out on trail rides.
- Trail maintenance and general upkeep of barn and its surrounding property
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols while working with machinery and animals.
Qualifications
- Must be able to ride various levels of horses safely.
- Good customer service skills are essential to giving our guests an amazing experience.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience operating farm machinery is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to listen and follow directions to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Reliable and punctual - must have your own transportation.
- Applicant must be willing to do Barn Chores (sweeping, watering, shovel manure tec.) just as willingly as they are to jump in the saddle.
- Ability to work independently or with others at a consistent pace.
- A passion for animal husbandry, and outdoor work is highly desirable.
- Prior horseback riding experience: please don't say you have 15 years of riding experience if you only ride once or twice a year. Lessons are not necessary but, Honesty is key.
- Highschool diploma or equivalent is required.

*~This position is seasonal - typically March-November. Interviews will be done in a two part process; first will be either on sight (in person) or over the phone and will be followed by a "working interview" where the potential candidate will brush, tack, ride, and untack a horse from our herd while the Barn Manager observes their skills and comfortability while mounted and around horses. The working interview is non-negotiable. ~*
