We’re looking for a hands-on Optics Systems Engineer to lead the integration, alignment, and testing of high-precision optical components in some of the world’s most advanced inspection systems. Travel up to 50% to support supplier and customer interactions around the world. You will be gone for up to 2 weeks at a time. Job Requirements: Own Optical Integration: Lead the assembly, calibration, and final testing of complex imaging systems with ultra-precise optics. Solve Real-World Challenges: Collaborate with Systems, Optics, and Software teams to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues. Build Scalable Processes: Develop and document best practices for optical assembly and design for manufacturability (DfM). Mentor & Lead: Train technicians and guide structured problem-solving efforts to ensure quality and consistency. Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze MES data using SPC tools to refine processes and elevate system performance. Investigate & Innovate: Conduct failure analysis, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Tackle optical system challenges with small, agile, multi-disciplinary teams. Apply Technical Expertise: Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models, and make basic updates as needed. Qualifications: Experience with high-complexity, low-volume capital equipment—especially in optical alignment and metrology. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across global, interdisciplinary teams. Deep knowledge of optics manufacturing and opto-mechanical modules, with a focus on improving material quality and system performance.
