Position Summary: This position is responsible for the purchasing of production material, demand and supply planning, purchase order requisitions, assisting in cost savings and the RMA (Return Material Authorization) process to ensure the highest level of performance.  Works closely with the production team to eliminate shortages and assist with the organization of materials. Assists in growing and managing vendor relationships to best meet needs of the facility.  

Duties / Responsibilities:
•    Performs purchasing activities, reviews materials resource plan and submits purchase orders (PO’s) for direct materials.
•    Approve requisitions for indirect materials.
•    Maintain adequate stock levels while assisting the company in achieving inventory goals.
•    Problem-solve and manage supply information relating to purchasing and receiving; must develop a good working knowledge of the ERP system.
•    Participate in production planning and work order scheduling.
•    Manage inventory levels, schedules, and availability of selected items, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
•    Review work-in-process material reviews from production floor.
•    Communicate with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on materials status and production planning issues.
•    Produces schedules for all areas of the facility to prevent lapses in work. 
•    Schedules facility production to prevent back orders.
•    Maintain awareness of “Requested Dates” while scheduling to prevent back orders.
•    Log all scrap in each department to ensure accurate inventory control.
•    Ensure accurate completion/closure of existing work orders  
•    Assist in the tracking of any “Over Due” or “Past Due” orders.
•    Request new items and initiate the item enablement process.
•    Conduct weekly follow-up of past due orders with suppliers.
•    Assist in cost savings initiatives and supplier performance feedback.
•    Help develop and reinforce proper inventory practices.
•    Other tasks as needed or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•    Experience using ERP/Oracle systems and applications in a manufacturing environment. (preferred)
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Must have experience with Microsoft office applications. (particularly excel)
•    Strong systems/process orientation with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•    Must have a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
•    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers.
•    Excellent project management and follow-up skills.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Experience with Oracle ERP preferred.
•    Exceptional math skills: including reasoning skills required to investigate problems and develop APU’s (average per unit usage).
•    Effective communication skills: ability to work with a wide range of people including Team Members, vendors, and management.
•    Time Management: ability to multi-task between the different responsibilities will be important due to daily interaction within multiple groups.
•    Physical Demands:
•    Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
•    Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling.
•    Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
•    Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures.
•    Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time.
