Use Your Power For Purpose DSRD Necropsy/Histology Technical Specialist has the competency to perform all aspects of rodent and non-rodent routine necropsy and/or histology procedures with minimal guidance/supervision. The individual has started to branch out into more complex pathology techniques, scientific principles, and/or data handling. Understands, complies with and applies Necropsy/Histology goals, SOP’s and guidelines including all regulatory, EHS, and IACUC requirements. Possesses specialized knowledge in veterinary anatomy and histology that he/she uses to support daily tasks. With minimal guidance from colleagues and under general supervision, he/she participates in projects to support the work group and team goals (eg data and/or specimen quality control, user guides, standard operating procedures, lesson plans). What You Will Achieve In a structured environment, executes necropsy/histology techniques directed by study protocols (regulatory, exploratory, and investigative). Performs all assigned routine necropsy and histology tasks in a timely manner and in agreement with the SOP and guidelines. This individual should be able to manage all N/H study aspects from start to finish (i.e. from necropsy room preparation to specimen archival). · Communicates with the pathologist and the pathology laboratory manager to ensure proper collection, handling and submission of specimens as well as proper handling of all supportive documentation, including chain of custody forms for outsourced work. Ensures proper use and preventative maintenance of equipment and laboratory space. Ensures full traceability of his/her work and of the specimens. Has begun to develop an area of expertise under supervisory, pathologist, or other mentorship · Proactively identifies and resolves non-routine problems in a structured environment. Displays business awareness of organizational impact on project delivery. Begins reinforcing appropriate behaviors and may train others. Follow standard procedures to complete tasks and maintain quality and compliance guidelines May adapt standard procedures by applying knowledge and experience to accommodate non-standard endpoints and to increase efficiency, throughput, and quality Independently lead and execute multiple laboratory-based projects with minimal supervision, applying established protocols, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring compliance with scientific and regulatory standards. Demonstrates, reinforces, and may coach others on consistent knowledge of regulatory requirements such as GLP and animal welfare · Is multi-skilled and has a working knowledge of operations across the business to support collaborations with team groups and partner lines Able to recognize, document, and resolve data errors. May provide guidance to other colleagues on best documentation practices. Performs effectively as a team member; accurately records data, effectively follows verbal and written instructions, maintains a positive work atmosphere, communicates effectively, interacts in a professional manner with management, colleagues, and customer and partner groups. Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements) HS Degree (or equivalent) with 6-8 years relevant experience OR A.S. degree (or equivalent) in a related field with 4-5 years relevant experience OR B.S Degree (or equivalent) in a related field with 2-3 years relevant experience · Good Laboratory Practice proficiency Has strong technical knowledge and skills of relevant disciplines (i.e. histology, anatomy) Able to apply necropsy/histology technical skills across a variety of species for toxicity studies Good Laboratory Practice proficiency Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements) ≥ 5 years of relevant experience in necropsy and/or histology HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or eligible PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS The position requires performing ex vivo work and therefore the colleagues must be able to wear appropriate PPE. They must be able to physically perform the technical procedures that may require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending. In addition, this position offers eligibility for overtime, weekend, holiday and other pay premiums depending on the work schedule and the Company’s policies.
