The company’s principals have been directly involved in over six million square feet of retail, medical, and mixed-use developments and investments exceeding $1 billion in current value. The company has developed 30 deals in the past 5 years and has an affiliated investment company that provides investment and development expertise for ground-up developments, value add and distressed assets. They partner with national, regional, and local restaurants, entertainment, residential, and hospitality operators to create great places.

Role
The Development Association position is the perfect fit for someone interested in learning and growing in their knowledge and experience in commercial development. This position will report to the Vice President of Development and work closely with all members, including the principals, to provide support throughout all areas of the development process including underwriting, financing, due diligence, closing, leasing, construction, and disposition. This is an opportunity for an individual with a passion for real estate to gain direct exposure to the development process with the potential to quickly grow within the company.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Principals in the evaluation of new development opportunities to see if they align with company’s development criteria.
- Perform detailed financial analysis, both for internal use and outside capital partners.
- Preparation of financial materials, including debt and equity offering memorandums as well as tax and investor reporting.
- Maintain current budgets and cash flows, which includes managing project invoices.
- Coordination of development tasks including contract negotiation, due diligence, entitlements, schedules, and budgets.
- Review of due diligence materials to identify any extraordinary costs or potential problems that could arise in the future.
- Assist in the coordination of pre-development work such as preliminary architecture and site design, zoning issues, and local government support.
- Maintain detailed pipeline of potential new investments to be reviewed on a weekly basis.
- Prepare presentation materials for possible new acquisitions.
- Interact with third party consultants including attorneys, title agents, brokers, architects, engineers, and construction consultants.
Qualifications
- Financial and valuation modeling; experience with commercial real estate is a must.
- Proficient in the use of Argus Enterprise.
- Deep understanding of financial concepts (DCF, ROI, IRR, NPV, Cap Rate, etc.) and factors affecting these metrics.
- High degree of maturity, keen attention to detail, and a proven willingness to accept significant responsibility and manage a challenging workload within a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Self-directed and can work independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels to drive project deliverables on time and on budget.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently present information, written and orally, with principals, brokers, investors, lenders, consultants, and governmental officials.
- Strong research, quantitative, writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to multi-task with an ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- High level attention to detail, strong organizational and follow-through skills.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 2-4 years of experience in an analyst position.
- Experience in the real estate industry.
