Department: 09120 Dreyer ASC Co - General Administration Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Location: Address: 1221 North Highland Ave, Aurora, IL 60506 Full Time: 40 Hours a Week Schedule: Must be flexible as early as 5AM-4:30PM. Standard M-F 8-4:30PM Weekend and Holiday Commitment: No Specialty (if any): Surgery (Multi-Specialty service lines) Elective surgical procedures are managed, scheduled, cancelled, and rearranged as needed utilizing operating room information system in collaboration with: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Obstetrician-Gynecologists, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Podiatry, Spine Care, and Urology Departments. Utilizes independent judgment in determining the urgency of scheduling requests and applying the appropriate procedure codes. Provides optimal utilization of Operating Room resources by determining appropriate room assignments, allocation of time needed, and potential equipment conflicts within specialties. Communicates all additions, changes, deletions to the schedule with involved departments. Efficiently utilizes assigned block time and open surgical time. Prepares schedule for distribution by verifying all patient information, surgery times and equipment needs. Ensure anesthesia assignments meet case needs. Review and communicate incomplete preference cards and special needs with OR Supervisor for timely resolution prior to day of service. Accurately maintains Operating Room template based on requests in alignment with Dreyer Ambulatory Surgery Center hours of operation and Bylaws/Rules and Regulations. Adjust single day or recurrence operating room template as needed. Coordinates time changes and updates in schedules. Prepares and maintains accurate information into the system. Ensures templates accurately reflect provider and service line block time. Validate case requests against physician approved privileges. Assists in maintaining department day-to-day functions. Answers incoming calls and redirects to appropriate parties. Takes action on mail/correspondence received by area. Provides patient status information to family waiting room liason and volunteers. Initiates work orders. Performs other duties assigned. Education/Experience Required: High school education or equivalent Some medical terminology 1 year surgery scheduler experience or previous healthcare related experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: 30-40 wpm preferred. Basic PC experience. Data entry. Customer focused. Excellent interpersonal skills: must relate well with surgeons, office personnel, nursing personnel. Tact, clinical professionalism. Analytical problem-solving skills to resolve scheduling conflicts. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to work under time constraints in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating commitment to patient-focused care. Ability to use computer systems. Ability to communicate and work effectively with others. Ability to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated. Ability to flex hours as early as 6AM through 5PM as needed. Ability to adapt to changes in work assignments and environment. Proper Operating Room attire.
