Job Description:

Knowledge, skills, education, and/or experience:
- Knowledge of training and coaching strategies effective to strengthening participants soft skills.
- Working knowledge of the workforce development system: its structure, operations, and linkages between required partners.
- Strong interpersonal skills to help engage, support, and motivate customers and engage business partners effectively.
- Effective communication skills both oral and written.
- Effective problem-solving, coaching, career counseling, and facilitation skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
Bachelor's degree required.
Mandatory skills/certification(s) Requirement:
- Relevant work-related experience working with adult learners' career counseling services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing adult career coaching services and case management to participants in the Road to Success in Virginia grant program.
- Provides information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements to ensure it aligns with one of the targeted industry sectors and results in an industry-recognized credential.
- Facilitates employment workshops, workplace readiness, and professional soft skills training.
- Ensures participants identify a training program, apply for admission, and enroll in coursework.
- Assists with recruitment and work-based learning opportunities following completion.
- Monitors students' training progress and furnishes coaching throughout the program.
- Provides placement and job-retention services to participants and works with employers to resolve any barriers to employment.
- Individual reports to the Virginia Peninsula Community College – Workforce Development Division.
- This is a grant-funded position.
