Creative Communications Proofreader (Medical Device)

• Hybrid in Mounds View, MN, 3-4 days per week.
• Pay range $33-$36.5/hr DOE.
• Long-term contract role (1 year ).
  
  

About The Role

We’re seeking a detail-obsessed Creative Communications Proofreader to help ensure marketing and communications materials are accurate, consistent, and aligned to brand and style standards within the medical device space. Your work will directly support communications that educate and inform—helping teams share information clearly and responsibly so the right messages reach the right audiences. In this role, you’ll proof and lightly edit a variety of materials, catching errors early and reducing rework by getting it right the first time.

Key Responsibilities

Proofreading & Light Copyediting

• Proofread marketing and communications materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting accuracy.
• Ensure consistency in terminology, voice, and messaging across deliverables.
• Confirm adherence to the organization’s style guide, including trademark usage and reference formatting standards.
• Provide light copyediting to improve clarity and readability while preserving the original intent.
• Identify potential inconsistencies or confusing language and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy and comprehension.
  
  

Quality, Compliance & Clarity

• Apply extra care when reviewing content related to products, claims, or regulated terminology to ensure communications are precise and consistent.
• Maintain a high bar for accuracy that supports trust, credibility, and a clear understanding for end audiences.
  
  

Team Collaboration

• Participate actively in team meetings and contribute as a positive, supportive team member.
• Share information that helps teammates succeed and improves workflow and handoffs.
• Communicate edits clearly and respectfully; respond well to feedback and input from others.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field.
• 2 years of professional proofreading and/or editing experience.
• Strong command of grammar, punctuation, and editorial standards.
• Excellent organization and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to problem-solve and perform under pressure without sacrificing accuracy.

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience in medical device, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with trademark/style guide governance and reference formatting.
• Experience supporting in-house creative, design, or marketing teams.
