What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at 242 Animal Hospital?
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform various laboratory tests and procedures, such as bloodwork and urinalysis
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Monitor animals during recovery from surgery or illness
- Take and develop x-rays of animals
- Clean and maintain veterinary equipment and supplies
- Provide basic animal care, including feeding, grooming, and exercising
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment plans
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in veterinary technology preferred
- Veterinary technician certification or licensure required
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and animal care practices
- Experience with animal catheterization, kennel management, pet grooming, or dog training is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Compassionate and caring attitude towards animals and their owners
- Ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism
