What We Need:
Our Irvine studio is looking for an experienced UI Artist to contribute to the next iteration of the NBA 2K franchise. In this role, you will utilize your traditional art training and knowledge of illustration, graphic design, and computer graphics software (both 2D and 3D!) to create a visually compelling and user-friendly interface.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and shape the UI visual design in accordance with the project's design philosophies and artistic direction
- Concept, iterate, and produce assets throughout all stages of development from pre-viz to final game assets and help to develop a cohesive UI style guide
- Take complex game mechanics and use your knowledge of good interaction design to produce creative and effective UX solutions
- Create documentation to communicate the vision, including but not limited to wireframes and flowcharts
- Learn new tools and processes that help to elevate the quality of the UI aesthetics that enhances the overall user experience
- Collaborate with other artists and other dependent departments, as appropriate, throughout the production process
Who Will Be A Great Fit:
- 5 years in creating commercial user interface designs, ideally within the video game industry
- Experience working in game engines (Unreal, Unity, or other propriety engines), design toolsets and production pipelines
- Ability to work with industry standard 2D graphics applications and prototyping tools used in UI / UX designs (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, etc.)
- Excellent graphic design skills (design, layout, and typography)
- Understanding of 3D modeling fundamentals and know-how (Maya, 3DS Max, etc.)
- Awareness of current trends in visual communication and how best to adapt those trends
- Organized and detailed with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn new software, tools, and technologies
- Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of self-direction
- Ability to take feedback well, and collaborate with peers
- Shipped at least one AAA console project
- Strong experience working within Maya
- Experience in creating motion graphics
- Proficient in using Perforce
- Love for video games (not just ours!)
