The Director of Tax is responsible for leading and overseeing all tax-related activities of the investment fund, including compliance, reporting, planning, and strategy. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with partnership-driven corporate tax intricacies across various fund types including but not limited to Real Estate, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, and Credit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage tax compliance and reporting requirements in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to optimize the fund’s tax position.
- Oversee K-1 tax reporting for the fund’s investors.
- Provide guidance on tax implications for fund structures and investments.
- Conduct due diligence for tax-related matters in mergers, acquisitions, and fund formation.
- Partner with the finance and accounting teams to integrate tax planning into financial and operational strategy.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Lead and mentor the internal tax team.
- Stay updated on relevant tax law changes and ensure compliance and adaptation of new regulations.
- Communicate tax strategies and impact clearly to senior management and board members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's in Taxation or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Comprehensive understanding of tax codes, compliance, and procedures.
- Significant experience with partnership tax intricacies in various sectors such as Real Estate, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, and Credit is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
