Hours: 12am-8am
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB: this position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility and puppy dorms. This position is also responsible for providing quality care for the dogs and puppies housed at The Ability Center, and to ensure the puppies are kept in a clean and healthy living environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Keep the facility clean outside the puppy dorms
- Spot clean the puppy dorms at specific times during the shift
- Help monitor the pregnant mom dogs for signs of labor, contact manager if you are concerned the whelping process is about to start.
- Reporting any medical concerns to the shift manager.
- Maintaining clean rooms throughout the day.
- Making sure the puppies and mom dogs have clean food and water.
EXPECTATIONS:
The expectation is to have the puppies in a healthy environment. The puppy stage of life is a very crucial part to their development. We strive to raise these puppies in the best way possible to pave the way for their bright future as service dogs in training. This is a very important role to provide a good space for the puppies to grow, and to keep track of their development.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous kennel or animal experience preferred
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 65 Ibs.
- Ability to restrain active dogs weighing up to 110 Ibs.
- Ability to complete necessary paperwork or reports and meet a deadline.
Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Required Licenses: None.
Working Conditions: Performing cleaning and canine health care duties. Use specific chemicals when disinfecting the puppy dorms. Lifting puppies in and out of rooms. Weekend and holiday work is required.
Safety Hazards: Subject to hazards that can be caused by working with animals and chemicals. Activities include regular and/ or repeated walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Pay: $12.50 - $15.00 per hour
