Job Summary
The core responsibility of the dog care specialist is to ensure the well-being of the dogs and puppies by providing them with quality care. This includes maintaining clean and comfortable living spaces, ensuring they receive adequate exercise, feeding them appropriate food, and ensuring they have regular access to water.
Duties/Responsibilities
Dog Care and Hygiene:
- Bathing and Grooming: Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of dogs through regular bathing and grooming sessions.
- Health Check: Conduct routine health checks including clipping nails, cleaning ears, brushing coats, and removing mats to maintain optimal health and well-being.
Facility Maintenance:
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards by regularly cleaning bathrooms, breakrooms, and kennels.
- Use of Cleaning Equipment: Utilize cleaning machines effectively to sanitize kennels and other areas.
- Deep Cleaning: Conduct deep cleaning of kennels on a regular basis to ensure a clean and healthy environment for the dogs.
- Laundry: Manage laundry tasks such as washing and drying bedding and towels.
Feeding and Care:
- Feeding: Ensure dogs have access to appropriate food and clean, filled water bowls at all times.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications to dogs as prescribed by veterinarians, ensuring accurate dosages and proper documentation.
Dog Handling and Monitoring:
- Rotation and Exercise: Conduct the rotation schedule to provide each dog with adequate exercise and socialization.
- Play Monitoring: Supervise dogs during group playtime to ensure their safety and well-being.
Transportation and Support:
- Transporting Dogs: Safely transport dogs offsite and back onsite in vehicles as needed for various purposes.
- Volunteer Support: Assist volunteers by answering doorbells and providing support as required.
- Whelping Assistance: Assist with whelping procedures (The Ability Center Staff)
Documentation, Record Keeping, Communication:
- Update System: Maintain accurate records and location in Salesforce
- Team Communication: Effectively communicate with team members to ensure seamless coordination and information sharing regarding dog care activities and any pertinent updates or changes.

Education and Experience
- Must Have
- Possession of a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain insurance at standard rates.
- Completion of high school or equivalent (GED).
- Nice to Have
- One year related experience
Physical Ability/Work Environment
- Capable of safely lifting objects weighing up to 45 pounds and safely handling, holding, and restraining active dogs weighing up to 110 pounds.
- Employees are encouraged to seek assistance when lifting dogs or objects exceeding 45 pounds in weight.
- Ability to maintain extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and/or stooping on hard surfaces while on one's feet.
- Ability to use chemicals while cleaning the environment
- Work outdoors and indoors in many weather conditions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.50 - $15.00 per hour
