Summary: Neuberger Berman’s Private Debt platform manages over $14 billion dedicated to credit investing in high quality North American companies owned by private equity firms. NB Private Debt focuses on performing first lien, senior secured loans to U.S. private equity-owned companies. The Private Debt team sits within NB Alternatives, which has over $95 billion of investor commitments dedicated to private markets investing. The Portfolio Associate will have high visibility and will play an integral role as part of the NB Private Debt Team, working closely with the 20-person Investment Team, Fundraising and Marketing Team, Finance Team and other professionals across the firm. The position provides an opportunity to work at a leading private credit platform in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. The role is based in New York (preferred) or Dallas and provides an opportunity to be an early entrant into a rapidly growing business. This is not a structured program and strong performers will have the opportunity to continue on in a career track capacity. Responsibilities: Assist with the day-to-day management of subscription line and asset backed credit facilities; duties including borrowing base maintenance, monthly and quarterly reporting, hypothetical/stress test analysis Assist with ongoing correspondence and asset review process with leverage providers Assist with portfolio analysis for investor reporting requests and RFP’s for new investors Assist with liquidity reporting and management across the platform, ensuring adequate capital reserves are in place to meet all investment needs or fund liabilities Collaborate with the Investment Team on monitoring of new and existing investments’ financial performance and ongoing covenant maintenance Maintain internal data management platform and use the data to assist with various analysis to provide helpful insights to the Investment and Senior Portfolio Management Teams Work directly with the Investment and Finance Teams to help facilitate quarterly valuation committee meetings and assist with material review and preparation Other ad hoc projects on an as-needed basis Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of work experience, preferably in transaction advisory/consulting services or on the buy-side Basic understanding of investment metrics, credit analysis and leveraged finance High intellectual curiosity to learn the asset class and business Strong attention to detail, excellent judgment, critical thinking and written skills; ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form Ability to multi-task with a fine-tuned attention to detail High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; willing to learn internal systems and databases Team-player attitude with a desire to contribute to the growth of the platform Compensation Details The salary range for this role is $90,000-$110,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
