POSITION SUMMARY: Marathon Petroleum Company, LP has openings for Electrical Technicians at its refinery in Garyville, LA. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Electrical maintenance and electrical testing in the following areas: motor circuits, low and medium voltage switchgear and motor control centers, battery systems, UPS systems, motor operated valves, microprocessor-based protective relays, low, medium, and high voltage power transformers, variable frequency drives, electric heat tracing control systems, electrical raceways, industrial lighting and complex control systems. Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED is required Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical experience or 3 years E&I industrial experience which can include time spent attaining an Electrical Technology degree/certificate through an accredited educational institution is required Competent familiarity in electrical test equipment, diagnosing the health of electrical equipment, control circuits, one-line diagrams, electrical safety and other electrical technician practices and procedures. A valid driver's license is required A Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) is required upon hire NFPA 70E preferred NETA testing experience preferred NCCER Certification preferred DESIRED COMPETENCIES: Safety Minded: Sustains and helps build a culture of safety excellence. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: All Maintenance Craft positions work in various environmental conditions in the refinery. This may include but is not limited to working indoors, such as maintenance shops, outdoors in open areas, process units, at heights and confined spaces with or without respiratory protection and limited mobility. Must be able to stand, walk, lift and carry 50-pounds. SAFETY: Electrical Technicians work in a safety-sensitive environment and must successfully complete a rigorous pre-employment assessment process, drug/alcohol and medical screenings, and a background check. SCHEDULE: Technicians work either a four-ten schedule (Monday – Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm) OR a rotating shift schedule. All applicants should be willing to work either schedule as assigned.
