Job Description:
A little bit about us: We are a growing childcare center in the West Columbia area looking for part-time and possibly full-time teachers. 5 Star Academy Learning Center opened in October 2013. The State newspaper awarded us with The State's "Best Daycare" for the year 2015! We accept children 6 weeks to 12 years old. We serve breakfast, lunch, and snack and also have nap time 12:00pm - 2:00pm. We pride ourselves in having great parent-teacher-child communication and making the child as well as the family feel as comfortable as possible. A little bit about you: We need someone who can take the initiative to be creative and can execute their crafty ideas! A teacher that has great parent and child communication as well as good communication with the front staff are in high demand, as well as someone who is dependable and can be here on time. At least 6 months experience in childcare -OR- ECD 101 credentials are required for every potential employee. A high school diploma or the equivalence (GED) is also required before employment can be offered. Reliable transportation is a MUST!
We also need a person that is very loving and understanding of children and their needs. You need to have a passion for teaching children as well as patience. This job requires daily activities, creating and executing lesson plans, cleaning, and can even require diaper changes. Also, a knowledge of DSS and ABC regulations are a plus. Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Passing SLED background check
- Strong leadership qualities
- Creativity - Dependability
- Be familiar with ABC, First Steps, and DSS regulations
- 15 hours of training within the first year of employment
- A passion for learning, growing, and most importantly children
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Diaper changes
- Manage classroom effectively
- Write and follow lesson plans
- Caring for children's needs
- Assessment of students
- Maintain a good relationship with the children and their parents
- Good communication with front staff
