What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager (Casual, Fun Environment) position at 54th Street?

Would you like to be a part of our team? If so, as our experienced Accounting Manager you will:
- Manage the full accounting cycle including daily operations of the accounting department.
- Lead the financial close process and verify that all reconciliations are accurate.
- Prepare & review journal entries that facilitate the financial close process.
- Prepare and review financial statements.
- Review GL reports to ensure expenses are recorded accurately on a weekly basis.

- Maintain and establish positive relationships between company and vendors.
- Manage monthly sales/use tax returns & annual property tax returns.
- Lead the annual financial statement audit.
- Serve as a backup for key accounting processes.
- Assist/Maintain lease agreements and properly account for the leases under the new 842 standard.
- Effectively utilize IT systems to improve the efficiency of the accounting department.
- Implement process improvements as needed, including but not limited to internal controls.
- As needed, develop and/or update finance and accounting policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or commensurate job experience with a proven track record of success.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years in a management position with skilled, technical knowledge in accounting systems.
- Knowledge of GAAP and Internal control framework
- Experience managing Accounts Payable in a paperless office environment.
- Experienced Microsoft Excel user (Intermediate or Expert) &
- Experience with report building/generation.
SKILLS:
- Must have a strong track record in being able to create new processes and facilitate process improvement.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and judgment and be able to work with minimal direction and in somewhat ambiguous situations.
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Possess innovation, creativity, self-motivation, initiative, attention to detail, organization, documentation, and follow through.
PREFERENCES (Not required):
- CPA Preferred
