Major Responsibilities:- Prepares the tax provision analysis and calculation of the related deferred taxes on a quarterly basis.
- Prepares the quarterly income tax projections and determination of federal and state estimated income tax payments.
- Prepares the federal and state income tax returns relating to system affiliates and ensures the timely filing of all tax forms.
- Partners with the management of real estate and personal property taxes system-wide, including monitoring and reviewing assessment notices for all properties, challenging assessment notices as deemed appropriate, reviewing current properties for change in use and analyzing impact on taxes. Assist with review of PILOT agreements and completion of biennial tax exemption reports system-wide.
- Performs tax research and analysis.
- Prepares tax and AMT calculations for depreciation.
- Serves as a key resource for all sales and use tax compliance system-wide, including review of sales and use tax returns.
- Monitors updates to IRS rules and regulations and assists with evaluation of impact to the organization.
- Coordinates federal and state audits, including income tax and sales and use tax audits.
- Within area of responsibility, maintains an effective system of internal controls that creates timely, accurate and complete financial reporting, promotes compliance with laws and regulations, and drives towards effective and efficient operations. Within area of responsibility, maintains accurate documentation of process flows, risks and key controls for each significant business process and sub-process.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) issued by a State Board of Accountancy needs to be obtained within 1 year.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in corporate tax or public accounting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of income tax compliance, including FIN 48.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality results and perform assigned tax activities in an independent manner.
- Self-motivated, results driven and detailed oriented.
- Strong analytical and communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products. Knowledge of CCH ProSystems desired.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a changing environment and manage multiple projects with short deadlines.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- May require lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to normal office environment.
