The A.C. Coy Company has an immediate opening for a Litigation Paralegal. Ideal candidates must have an Associates Degree with at least 4 years of experience as a Paralegal. Certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in organizing and managing case files; including maintaining document databases and electronic record
- Draft legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleading according to judicial procedures
- Research and analyzes statute, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys
- Assist in preparing trials which includes preparing, witness lists, trial exhibits and coordinating logistics for court appearances
- Scheduling of witness interviews, inform witness of trial dates; in certain cases, the paralegal may be asked to conduct an initial interview
Qualifications
Education
- Associates Degree required. Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program preferred
Experience
- Four or more years’ experience as a paralegal
- Project and case management skills. Candidates must have a strong aptitude for prioritizing and managing multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Position may involve some transactional (real estate and corporate) work and environmental and regulatory work
