We have a Vocational Specialist position open for the An Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team which consists of a community-based group of medical, behavioral health and rehabilitation professionals who use a team approach to meet the needs of an individual with severe and persistent mental illness. ACTT is a team dedicated to reducing and eliminating the symptoms of severe mental illness and to enhance the individual's quality of life. The purpose of the Vocational Specialist is to serve as a therapeutic resource to consumers as a member of an established Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT)

Job Duties include:

• Serves as an active member of the ACT Team, participates in team meetings, and provides input into the person-centered planning process Job Duties include:

• Complete pre-vocational assessment that is focused on the individual's strengths and preferences, and on-the-job assessments, where appropriate
• Conduct job development, where the vocational specialist builds relationships with local businesses and educates them about the services that the vocational specialist provides, collects information about positions, and ideally determines the potential for job carving options
• Provide job coaching and ongoing supports, assisting the individual's in learning the job skills, navigating the workplace, managing work relationships with other employees and supervisors
• Provide benefits counseling directly, as well as connects individuals to experts for more extensive benefits counseling as needed; this includes development of SSI/SSDI Work Incentives and NC Medicaid Buy-In: Health Coverage for workers with disabilities

Basic Requirements:

• Ability to perform tasks on the computer including working with Microsoft 360, Excel, Word and other basic programs.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance coverage and reliable transportation
• Pass criminal background check and other regulatory checks
• Provide proof of your education

Education and Experience Required:

1. A bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work or closely related Human Services area
2. If AP, one (1) year of professional MH work experience. If QP, two (2) years of professional MH work experience.
3. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
4. High level proficiency in Microsoft Office- MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
