A-Del Construction Company, Inc. is located in Newark, Delaware and has a 40-year history of heavy civil projects throughout the state of Delaware and Maryland. We are seeking an energetic person to join our team that meet the criteria below:
The Surveyor adjusts and operates surveying instruments, makes sketches and enters data into computers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conducts surveys to establish boundaries for properties.
- Maintains and controls all surveying equipment.
- Creates layout data for survey crews and maintains the survey crew schedules.
- Builds and maintains 3D surface files for GPS machine control and/or digital terrain models from Owner/GC.
- Calculates heights, depths, position, property lines, etc. and records and reports results.
- Prepares and maintains sketches, maps and reports, while on occasion utilizes the legal descriptions of surveys.
- Gathers data from field crews and prepares as-built drawings to be reviewed and approved by the company P.E. and/or P.L.S.
- Prepares data, charts, maps, records and documents for new sites.
- Reviews descriptions of property boundary for use in deeds, leases, etc.
- Verifies accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Performs other assignments as required.
Qualifications
- High School degree or GED preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar environment required.
- CAD experience preferred.

Working Conditions
- Involves work for heavy civil construction company where duties can potentially be performed in both indoor/outdoor/daytime/nighttime working conditions. Employee can be exposed to equipment/vehicle hazards, heights/subsurface levels, dust/fumes, chemicals, confined spaces, traffic hazards, loud noise levels and outside weather conditions related to Mid-Atlantic region.
- Fit for duty including physical requirements of standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, verbally communicating, hearing, sitting and occasionally lifting/moving approximately 75 pounds.
- Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) assigned.
