What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Switchboard Operator position at A First Choice Staffing Service?
We are looking to fill a full-time switchboard operator position for a medical office. This is an in-house position. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service. Good with computers, spelling and grammar, basic knowledge of medical terminology, experience with heavy phones.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer phones in a timely and polite manner.
- Triage phone calls to determine how to assist the caller.
- Scheduling appointments for new patients collecting and entering all demographic information as well as entering and verifying all insurance information.
- Scheduling appointments for existing patients updating and verifying all demographic and insurance information.
- Transferring calls to various physician team members.
- Reviewing schedule to help patients manage referrals.
- Assisting callers with questions and concerns.
- Manages large volumes of inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner.
- Provides assistance to patient and others contacting the clinic by telephone.
- Completes initial registration information of new patients following established policies and procedures.
- Updates any changes of patient’s information in computer database and scans updated paperwork into Electronic Health Record (EHR) under correct tabs; including documenting phone notes when appropriate.
- Identify patients’ and other customers’ needs.
- Navigate through patients’ chart in the EHR to locate appropriate information.
- Maintains daily worklist
- Documents notes in computer regarding conversations.
- Other duties as assigned
Must be able to pass criminal background checks, drug screen and current reference checks. Must be at least 18 to apply.
