Assisted Living Aide
Location: Janesville, MN (Waseca County)
Employment Type: Full‑time / Part‑time / Evenings, Nights, Weekends (shift flexibility)
About the Role
As an Assisted Living Aide (also known as Personal Care Assistant, Resident Assistant, or Direct Care Aide), you'll deliver compassionate, hands‑on care to residents—assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, meals, and toileting while encouraging independence and dignity in a supportive assisted living setting Senior Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with ADLs: bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, ambulation, transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor and support hydration, nutrition, and dietary needs; assist with tray setup and feeding as needed
- Report changes in resident condition (physical, emotional, cognitive) to supervisory staff promptly
- Maintain hygiene and skin integrity—assist with incontinence care, repositioning, and pressure‐ulcer prevention
- Support mobility and exercise routines per individual care plans; assist with safe transfers and ambulation
- Provide light housekeeping tasks: bed changes, laundry assistance, room tidying
- Participate in scheduled resident activities and dining assistance to promote social engagement and well‐being
- Document care activities and observations accurately, according to facility policy and state regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in senior care, assisted living, or residential care is helpful but not required
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude towards residents and families
- Physically able to assist with transfers, carry out tasks that require standing, lifting, or walking for shifts
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $17–$21/hour, depending on experience and shift; night/weekend differentials may apply
- Paid orientation and ongoing training, including dementia care and abuse prevention in‑service training
