Primary Duties

  • Lead development of list of primary customer targets in conjunction with Project Executives and Company Leadership.
  • Develop criteria to qualify leads and report on potential project opportunities to the Vice President.
  • Develop business for the company, prepare an annual sales plan to capture target customers and ensure its implementation.
  • Work with Project Executives to leverage their existing relationships into new opportunities.
  • Manage the generation of revenue for the company, help the company grow in revenue and profitability.
  • Assist in the maintenance of relationships with architects, owners, engineers and others outside of the company through periodic interactions.
  • Be the public face of the company in relation to lead generation.
  • Network with architects and project developers to ensure the Abbott Construction name is considered for select bid lists and negotiated projects.
  • Participate in the RFQ/RFP process as part of the Pre-Construction Team.
  • Coach teams on presentation skills prior to proposal interviews as requested.
  • Create, distribute and implement sales tools and reports for use in securing work and facilitate accountability.
  • Qualify potential projects based on known criteria detailed in Go-no-Go process (e.g. geographic location, budget, architect and overall fit with company's sales goals); review with Vice President.
  • Solicit and act upon referrals from both inside and outside the company.
  • Establish a business development budget and submit to the Director of Finance for approval.
  • Ensure all public relations mesh with firm's overall marketing objectives through paper image, ad visuals, photo placements, website updates, copy review, community service projects, dress attire, and positive attitude by all staff.
  • Monitor actual BD activity vs. proposed BD activity with Vice President. Make adjustments as required to meet goals.
  • Represent Abbott Construction in the community by attending appropriate industry events as approved by the Vice President.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
  • Utilizes good judgment and remains efficient while under stress
  • Capable of communicating effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the construction process
  • Must have a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, organizational skills, task oriented
  • Must be willing to travel if required
