What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Assistant/Animal Care Assistant position at Abingdon Animal Medical Center?
AAMC's B&B "Bed and Biscuits" is looking for the right fit for our kennel/boarding department. This would be a great fit for a college student or someone looking for a part-time position (Winter-late Spring weekly hours would be 18-20) with the potential of working a maximum of 28-32 hours during Late Spring-Late Fall, then reducing back to the winter hours. Experience would be preferred but is not necessary.

You will receive thorough training and work with our other kennel assistants/kennel manager. You must have a love for animals, cleanliness, and attention to detail. Job duties will include but not be limited to the following:
- Weekday shifts during Fall- winter will be: Wed: 8-12:30; 1:30-5:45, Friday 8-1
- Weekend shifts are: (8-10:30AM; 3:30-5:30PM) EVERY OTHER weekend.
- Weekday shifts during Late Spring-Fall: Mon: 1-5:45, some Thursdays: 8-1, Wed: 8-12:30; 1:30-5:45, Fridays 8-12:30; 1:30-5:45. (Please note the Thursday shifts and Friday afternoon shifts would be based on the kennel numbers)
- Weekend shifts are the same during Late Spring-Fall: (8-10:30AM; 3:30-5:30PM) EVERY OTHER weekend.

- This position is a seasonal part-time position. Late April-August/September. If desired the opportunity for weekend shifts could continue through October. This would be a great position for a local college student or anyone looking for a part-time job, with winters off.
- The main job duties include, but are not limited to walking our boarding dogs, feeding dogs/cats, and cleaning/disinfecting runs/indoor cat cages, medicating boarding patients, and of course loving on all of our patients.
- You will also be assisting with checking-in and discharging boarding patients: setting them up in their runs, making sure everything in their run is clean, washing and folding laundry, preparing the dogs who are going home that day or going to grooming, gathering and organizing all of their belongs, etc. Attention to detail and multitasking is a must.
