• Ability to diagnosis and repair a wide variety of electrical systems including low voltage access control, PA/Audio systems, sound systems, lighting controls, along with the standard electrical systems. Ability to read and follow electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Inspects facilities, systems and their components, ensuring safety and identifying necessary repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.
• Install electrical systems and components to provide and enhance comfort and safety within facilities.
• Knowledgeable in the use of electrical test and Maintenance equipment and tools. Maintains tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
• Performs journey level skilled maintenance primarily related to electrical systems and low voltage systems, resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns and providing for preventative maintenance.
• Prepares documentation by providing written support and/or conveying information.
• Procures equipment, supplies, and materials needed to maintain inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
• Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase.
• Responds to emergency situations as requested, possibly on 24-hour call for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) to ensure the availability of materials required at job site.

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 50% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
Experience - Job related experience within specialized field is required.
Qualifications
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in building maintenance; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; including calculations using fractions, percentages and ratios; read technical information such as blueprints and schematics and compose a variety of documents, and participate in group discussions; Analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: safety practices and procedures; and methods, techniques, materials used in building maintenance; and safety and codes requirements of Federal, State and local District guidelines.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; collate data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. In working with others, some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with frequent interruptions. May be required with notice to be on 24 hour call.
- One year of similar experience preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Journeyman License preferred.
