Job Overview
Our Mortgage Processor processes mortgage loans from application to funding. Acts as a liaison with MLOs, underwriters, correspondent investors, mortgage wholesalers, and applicants to ensure the accuracy of application data and related documentation to the mortgage loan application and approval process.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Reviews the application and issues TRID-compliant Initial Disclosures including Loan Estimates.
- Audits and documents the loan file for accuracy of income, assets, and all other calculations as per product guidelines.
- Works with the applicants, MLOs, and underwriter to clear any underwriting stipulations until the loan funds.
- Orders and follows up on appraisals, flood certifications, private mortgage insurance, income and asset verifications, and any other documentation required for completion of the loan file.
- Reviews information for completeness and accuracy throughout the process and keeps the file updated on all systems. Clarifies missing or questionable information.
- Prepares files for underwriting. Checks current information including but not limited to AUS approval, appraisal, credit report, interest rate lock, and any other relevant information related to the loan approval process.
- Communicates the status of files to all parties related to the loan process in an efficient and timely manner.
- Monitors internal and external mortgage-related systems, guidelines, and requirements and works with MLOs, correspondent investors, and mortgage wholesalers to resolve issues. Assures proper and timely delivery of documents.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Required:
- One year to three years of similar or related experience. A minimum of one year of recent mortgage processing experience is required.
- A high school education or GED.
- Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
- 1. Proficient in mortgage loan origination systems and Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams,
SharePoint, Word, and Excel).
2. Possess analytical abilities to make decisions and resolve problems.
3. Possess interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with members and employees in
person, digitally, and by telephone.
4. Ability to operate a computer and related software with speed and accuracy. - Physical qualifications require being able to sit at a computer and other office related equipment for extended periods of time and to be able to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
