What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator - 2nd Shift - 8% Shift Differential position at Abrasive-Form, Inc.?
Basic Function: Responsible to ensure machine cells are running in order to meet production goals and quality standards.
Tasks:
- Dimensionally inspect parts from machining automotive parts according to process sheets ensuring rates are met or exceeded.
- Visually inspect parts to ensure parts are within the defined specifications to meet quality standards.
- Appropriately segregate parts which do not meet quality standards.
- Identify the need for and complete wheel changes when needed.
- Inform management of any maintenance issues or problems related to a job.
- Submit Daily Production Report at the end of each shift to Production Supervisor.
- Make recommendations for improvements to the production supervisors to insure continuous improvement of quality and company performance.
- Keep work area clean, organized and free from clutter. The machine must be wiped down each shift.
- Any other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor.
Skills:
- Ability to communicate read and write in English.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools.
- Ability to use various measuring instruments.
Experience and Education:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a machining environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
- Physical strength to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently.
- Physical ability to do repetitive work.
- Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they sheet specifications.
