The QC Scientist I is responsible for the Quality Control testing of cell line projects. The QC Scientist I will work alongside other laboratory personnel from Lab Services, Cell Culture, and Biorepository departments to ensure that cell line products are sent out in a timely manner.
Job Objectives
- Execute the Quality Control Process from start to finish
- Perform mycoplasma and interspecies testing
- Prepare outsourced samples for processing and shipping, including Human and Mouse Cell Line ID Authentication, as well as Human and Mouse Viral Panels
- Analyze and interpret data, as well, generate client reports
- Maintain proper documentation such as specific job notes and reports through NetSuite database in correspondence to SOPs
- Participate in the development and maintenance of QC related SOPs, test procedures, training records, and other QC related documentation
- Assist with training laboratory associates and new employees in protocols and equipment
- Provide assistance to other laboratory departments when needed, including Cell Culture Growth and Lab Services (Sorting, Flow)
Job Competencies
- Good Organizational Skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficient in ABS databases, Netuite and Qualio, and Microsoft office applications, such as Excel and Word
- Competent at sterile cell culture
- Adept at molecular biology techniques, including PCR
- Experience using hemacytometers and microscopes
- Strong understanding of arithmetic and basic algebra
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science, Biology preferred, 3 years of experience
- Experience in molecular biology and flow cytometry a plus
- Experience isolating PBMC’s a plus
