Our client, Renew Life, LLC is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with one to six months experience working with persons with disabilities in a private home, group home, day support, or other facilities.IMMEDIATE HIREJob DescriptionProviding for and assisting with personal care needs, such as bathing, shaving, shampooing hair, dressing, and grooming, oral hygiene, and perineal careAssisting with ambulating, including the use of canes (quad, std.), walkers and wheelchairs, when applicableAssuring client safety and maintaining a safe environmentResponding to and reporting emergency situations to the company management staff and familyReporting changes in client’s condition or family situation to the officeMaintaining client confidentialityDocumenting services providedPerforming home management functions, such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making and cleaning QualificationsKnowledge of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (IDD), mental health and/or other developmental disabilities Demonstrated skill in working with adults and/or children with disabilitiesAbility to observe the rights and personal dignity of participants served Good oral and written communication skills Ability to perform simple math skillsAbility to implement and follow policies and proceduresKnowledge of simple nursing care, first aid, behavior management, personal care, hygiene, and environmental hygieneAptitude to teach participants eating, bathing, dressing, grooming and other self-care skills Ability to participate in treatment planning, implement ISP and complete proper documentation Capability to observe, record and properly report participant’s behavior, attitude, physical condition, and emergency incident Ability to maintain effective working relationships with participants, family members and professional contacts Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s LicenseProof of full coverage car insurance requiredBehavior Management Training CertificationValid Verifiable Virginia Business License is NecessaryAdditional InformationEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma or GEDOne year of documented and verifiable experience working in the Human Service or Medical Field (preferred)One to six months’ experience in direct care, working with persons with disabilities in a group home, day support, hospital, treatment center, community, or nursing home setting (preferred)Must have the ability to demonstrate emotional maturity and patience necessary to understand and accept the social, psychological, and emotional needs of individuals with developmental disabilitiesMust be able to demonstrate the ability to nurture self-sufficiency and quality of lifePOSITION LOCATION: Hampton Roads/Tidewater Area, VirginiaDUTY HOURS: VariousTERM: TBDOpportunities Available Now!
