Job Summary

The Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, a Catholic private school, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, is based on the educational philosophy of their foundress, St. Julie Billiart. The Academy offers rigorous co-educational programming from Pre-K through a college-preparatory Upper School. The Lower School Teacher assumes professional responsibility for providing learning experiences and supervision of assigned students in a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate. He/she will develop in each student the skills, attitudes and knowledge to meet and exceed the Massachusetts State Curriculum Framework Standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies following the approved curricula and directives of the Academy. Achieving academic excellence requires that the Lower School Teacher work collaboratively with the school administration, faculty, staff and parents.

Responsibilities:

  • Embrace the Mission of the school and the Hallmarks of a Notre Dame education which includes, but is not limited to, encouraging diversity, inclusion, social justice, service, and community within the teachings of the Church
  • Plan and implement sequential learning experiences for students using a variety of instructional strategies, technology, media and community resources to support instructional programs
  • Monitor the pacing of instruction and budget of class time efficiently by providing clear directions, outlining expectations, and effectively delivering instructional experiences
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis and research related to learning
  • Administer assessments, address findings and integrate the use of data to improve instruction
  • Provide differentiated instruction and learning experiences in whole group, small group and individual settings based on varying student needs
  • Hold all students to high behavioral and academic expectations
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community
  • Provide weekly updates and regular communication with families about individual students, grades and classroom experiences including but not limited to emails, phone calls and posting grades
  • Design a child-centered and engaging classroom environment
  • Demonstrate integrity, good moral character and initiative
  • Participate in curriculum mapping
  • Participate in SND, curriculum training, staff meetings and Professional Development as needed
  • Participate in duties to oversee and monitor students during arrival, lunch, recess and dismissal as needed
  • Organize, plan and participate in parent-teacher conferences
  • Assign and grade assessments, collect and record data and complete report cards

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
  • MA DESE Certification preferred
  • Minimum of three years prior teaching experience preferred
  • Cover letter, resume, and college transcripts
  • Required documentation outlined in the qualifications above and appropriate teaching certification
  • A minimum of three letters of reference from former employers, teachers, professors, or other professional sources, or copies of recent evaluations and observations of teaching performance
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status; evidence of criminal check (CORI) and fingerprinting is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
