The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following job responsibilities:
- Prepare food items in a sanitary and timely manner with minimal assistance
- Follow written and verbal recipes
- Exhibit good cleaning and sanitation skills
- Assist with service of food to clients
- Effectively stock shelves upon delivery of food items
- Maintains clean work area - completes clean up and dishwashing duties as assigned
- Safely operates all kitchen equipment
- Adheres to all health and safety policies
- Ensures all activities conform to The Refuge's standards
- Seeks out information, innovative ideas and techniques relative to the dietary department
- Participates in process/quality improvement activities of the company
- Supervises the operation of the kitchen upon request of Sous Chef and/or Dietary Director
- Post menu board
- Perform all other duties as required
Requirements
- HS Diploma/GED preferred
- MINIMUM 4 years experience in restaurant or healthcare environment
- Must have fluent knife skills
- Must possess the ability to sauté, braise, grill and poach food items
- Must protect and handle sensitive and confidential material and situations
- Must identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Must provide strong customer service
- Must prioritize and plan work activities effectively
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must exhibit strong leadership skills
- Knowledge of culinary terms
