About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated PLC Controls Engineer/Technician to join our dynamic automation team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, and servos, and will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex control systems for our projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and effective communication to support both internal teams and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, servo systems, variable frequency drives, HMIs, and other automation/control components across multiple projects.
- Design, program, and implement new and existing control systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Develop, review, and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and AutoCAD documentation for control systems.
- Assemble, wire, and test control panels in accordance with UL508A, NEC, SCCR, and Functional Safety standards.
- Perform system startup, commissioning, and validation at customer facilities to ensure proper operation.
- Provide technical support to customers both remotely and on-site, addressing operational issues and system improvements.
- Identify potential technical risks within projects and develop strategies to mitigate them proactively.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, project managers, and customers to resolve complex automation challenges.
- Stay current with the latest automation technologies, industry trends, and safety regulations to continuously improve project outcomes.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a PLC Controls Engineer or Technician, preferably in industrial automation or manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and associated programming software (RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues independently.
- Proficient in reading and creating AutoCAD electrical drawings, including schematics and panel layouts.
- Knowledge of electrical standards such as UL508A, NEC, SCCR, and Functional Safety requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to team members and clients.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation for travel to customer sites.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with industrial networking protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, ProfiNet, etc.).
- Experience in startup and commissioning of large-scale automation systems.
- Familiarity with control system safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508).
