What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Specialist/General position at Access II Independent Living Center?
Job Summary:
The Independent Living Specialist will assist individuals with disabilities in accessing core IL services—including nursing home transitions, skills training, advocacy, employment services, and youth Pre-ETS. You will work one-on-one with consumers to identify goals, remove barriers, and connect them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in transitioning from nursing homes to independent living
- Deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to youth with disabilities
- Provide employment coaching, skills training, advocacy, and peer support
- Assist with navigating community-based resources and services
- Document services and maintain accurate records
- Conduct outreach and represent Access II at community events
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred
- Experience working with people with disabilities (lived or professional)
- Knowledge of community resources, benefits, and employment programs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the service area
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
