Key Responsibilities:
Technical Operations:
- Perform troubleshooting, setup, order changes, and preventive maintenance on production machines.
- Adjust and repair machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Conduct machine setups and order changeovers efficiently and accurately.
Team Supervision and Leadership:
- Act as the first-line supervisor for production operators, ensuring all work is completed safely and with a focus on quality.
- Assign training to new employees and provide ongoing coaching and counseling to the team.
- Recognize and reward strong performance while addressing and escalating discipline issues in accordance with company policies.
Quality and Reporting:
- Ensure all employees adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality/Inspection programs.
- Monitor and document daily production performance, submitting accurate and timely reports.
- Uphold and enforce safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring a clean and hazard-free work environment.
Employee Development:
- Train and mentor new machine operators, ensuring they understand and follow all operational standards and protocols.
- Encourage team growth by fostering a positive work culture and supporting employee development.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the Production Shift Supervisor and Human Resources to achieve manufacturing goals.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to address issues and optimize workflows
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide the activities of production crews, ensuring adherence to schedules and processes.
- Monitor employee work and break schedules to maintain productivity and compliance.
- Provide feedback and support to improve operator performance and resolve operational challenges.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2–5 years of experience as a Machine Operator, preferably in bag manufacturing.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and direct a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and moving parts.
