What are the responsibilities and job description for the Treasury Specialist position at Acelero Inc?
Job Summary:
The Treasury Specialist is responsible for cash management and reconciliation of cash accounts across Acelero, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The Treasury Specialist will contribute to the preparation of month-end financials by closing cash accounts cleanly and timely each month. Following successful process automation, the Treasury Specialist will also upload payroll for each delegate as well as for Acelero, Inc. and Shine entities twice each month. The role requires strong interpersonal skills since the Treasury Specialist will need to interface with members of the finance leadership team, the Controller’s team, Shared Services, and Finance staff within each delegate.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the cash management and reconciliation process within the department, including depositing incoming checks to appropriate bank accounts, creating journal entries to record deposits, completing cash and bank reconciliations within 10 days of the month end, resolving unidentified reconciling items and recommend account adjustments as needed, uploading payroll files to the general ledger for each pay period, and providing ad hoc reporting when required.
- Oversees all cash reconciliations, which means understanding the content as well as actual completion of the reconciliations themselves and requires interactions with Finance personnel across the network as well as within the Support Center and Shared Services.
- Identifies the disposition of reconciling items, along with development of recommendations for account adjustments such as write-offs or transfers.
- Ensures the timely deposit and recording of incoming checks into the proper bank accounts.
- Creates journal entries to record deposits, including obtaining an understanding of the nature of the receipt in order to determine the appropriate credit account; tracks the status of journal entries once created to ensure timely approval and posting, and follows up with accountable Finance team members when entries remain unposted.
- Monitors transactions by tracking and aging outstanding checks for escheat.
- Generates reports using various systems, including Paycom, twice each month for all delegates plus INC and Shine, sending reports to Digitree, and then uploading processed reports to the general ledger.
- Calculates cash balances and reserves related to ongoing contracts via the Shine Early Learning subsidiary on a monthly basis.
- Creates cash-related schedules and lead sheets to support the annual audit and uploads these files to the designated audit file exchange site.
- Participates in the annual financial statement audit as well as with any financial reviews by providing support for cash activity throughout the year as needed.
- Engages in professional development opportunities related to the treasury function and broader finance initiatives related to the work at Acelero.
- Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.
Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
2. Experience in general accounting, account analysis/reconciliation and financial reporting required;
public accounting experience helpful.
3. Experience with Sage/MIP Accounting software preferred.
4. CPA preferred.
5. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
6. Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and
functions.
7. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
