As the Food Services/Nutrition Coordinator at Acelero Learning, South Carolina, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and well-being of children by collaborating with service area coordinators and staff while adhering to Head Start Performance Standards. This position provides a unique opportunity to lead nutrition-related initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Health Coordinators and the Health Team: Work closely with the health team to gather necessary health information and complete Nutrition Questionnaires for all enrolled children.
Lead the Development of Integrated Care Plans (ICP): Develop and implement ICPs for children with identified nutrition concerns, including anemia, obesity, low weight, and food allergies.
Provide Family Education: Educate families on nutrition concerns and best practices, fostering healthy eating habits for long-term well-being.
Conduct BMI Re-screenings: Reassess children with Body Mass Index (BMI) below 5% or above 90% to determine the need for ICPs and/or family nutrition education. Set healthy eating goals as required.
Ensure Compliance with CACFP Regulations: Demonstrate knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations and participate in ongoing professional development.
Review and Modify Menus: Collaborate with Food Service Coordinators to evaluate and modify menus, ensuring they meet children's nutritional needs and reflect cultural preferences while broadening food experiences.
Create Individualized Menus: Design menus for children with specific dietary needs or multiple food allergies.
Update Special Ingredients and Substitution Lists: Work with Food Service Coordinators to maintain up-to-date lists of special ingredients and food substitutions for children with dietary restrictions.
Maintain Health Records: Update and maintain accurate health records for all Head Start children in the database system, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
Monitor Compliance with Nutrition Policies: Conduct regular monitoring of centers to ensure adherence to all Nutrition policies and procedures.
Provide Training and Oversight: Offer guidance and training to Family and Health Advocates at all centers, equipping them with the skills needed to support families in achieving healthy eating goals, developing care plans, and delivering parent education.
Job Requirements:
Must be a Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist.
A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience is required.
Completion of a physical exam and background checks is mandatory for this position.
Ability to travel locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or have reliable transportation.
