What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Engineer position at Actalent?
Description:
The Automation Engineer will interface directly with customers and within all levels of the organization and make a difference for our customer base. This is an important role within the company's unit that is responsible for multiple aspects of the automation equipment.
- Optimize and develop processes and process control.
- Perform complete system I/O check prior to shipment to confirm proper wiring and airline terminations per project documents (P&ID, Electrical, Pneumatic and so on).
- Develop PLC and HMI programs/software utilizing P&ID, Electrical and Pneumatic drawing documents, customer specifications and associated project documents and/or information.
- Take direction and assist as required the Automation Engineering staff for project development and implementation during the development phase.
- Take direction and assist as required Automation Engineering staff with customer site membrane system I/O checks, pre-commissioning start up and final full commissioning of membrane systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- BS degree in Electrical, Process, Chemical, or Automation Engineering
- 3 years' experience working with Automation and Controls Engineering
- 3 years' experience with PLC/HMI programming (Allen Bradley)
- Experience working within a process controls environment (food and bev, dairy, food processing)
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% (Domestic, some International)
- 3 years' experience with install and commissioning of equipment
- Experience with P&ID's (piping and instrumentation diagrams)
- Experience interfacing with customers is preferred
