Description:
Our client is actively seeking to expand their Water Resources Group and in need of a talented civil engineer. This person will play a key role in the water resources group, which involves a wide range of civil engineering and water resources related projects. They will have flexibility to design and build solutions that impact ecosystems, watersheds, and communities for their clients.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Focus on large environmental restoration projects that involve embankment systems, levees, low and high head reservoirs, pump stations, stream channel restoration/rehabilitation, wetland and lake restoration, watershed issues and stormwater collection systems
- Lead a team performing various design engineering and modeling technique's in the development of water resource and heavy civil projects for state and local municipalities
- Perform complex engineering analyses and design calculations
- Prepare design drawings, construction specifications, opinion of probable construction costs, construction bid packages, technical memoranda and reports
- Support and direct hydraulic and hydrology modeling, a variety of data collection, data assimilation, and presentations
- Perform other duties as needed, based on qualifications and interest, including communication with clients, generating new business opportunities, managing subconsultants, and managing staff.
- Perform Project Management functions, including people management, client interactions, and managing project deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Emphasis in Water Resources and Master’s degree is a plus
- PE license is a plus
- 2 years of related consulting engineering experience (water resources/drainage engineering)
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, both public and private, as well as representatives of local, state and federal regulatory agencies
- Experience working with SFWMD is a plus
- Experience with standard hydraulic modelling software (e.g. HEC-RAS, SWMM, ICPR) is preferred
- Experience with InfraWorks, Civil 3D, GIS, standard hydrologic data analysis software and sediment transport modeling preferred
- Capable of developing design and bid packages including design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates to comprehensively present our clients project(s) for construction
- Knowledge of environmental planning, permitting and regulations desired
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to complete project tasks
- Ability to provide professional-level verbal and written communication skills
- Leadership and business development talents are a plus
- An attitude and commitment to being passionate about doing exceptional work, energizing staff and delivering responsive service to our clients

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Water Resources Engineer (or Civil Engineer from another discipline- transportation, land development, etc.) to join a company that has had a long history of supporting the water management districts across the state of Florida. This person would support the South Florida Water Management District and other local municipalities with water resources needs. They will have the opportunity to work on high profile everglades restoration projects, lead and mentor junior staff, and interact with clients. Depending on the career goals of the individual, they have the opportunity to become a technical leader or client services manager.
This position can sit fully remote, preferably somewhere close to Tampa or West Palm Beach. If someone is experienced enough in Water Resources to work independently, they could work from anywhere remotely (don't need to be in Tampa or West Palm).
