What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineer position at Actalent?
Description:
Our client is an Engineering Consulting Company in Michigan and has several large natural gas expansion projects on their books with more in the works.
They are looking for someone experienced with the design and construction of natural gas pipelines. Being hired to help replace miles of cast iron pipe throughout Michigan.
Responsibilities:
Monitor task budget and progress
Prepare computer-generated natural gas pipeline and mechanical working drawings for clients
Generate bill of materials
Create estimated time requirements for projects
Coordinate with sub-contractors and vendors
Conduct on-site field walks as needed (IF candidate is out of state they must be open to the possibility of travel to Michigan possibly up to 2 times a month as a worst case)
Prepare project status and other reports
Assist with the preparation of proposals
Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
Ability to work remote or spend time in a field office depending where candidate lives.

o Site plan approvals – permits, land planning
o Grading
o Put plans together using AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation (grading and pipe network)
********* They are designing/drafting underground gas pipelines throughout the state of Michigan. Designing elements include Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Flanges, Valves, Bypass Valves, Meters, Flow pipes, etc.
Qualifications:
Engineering Degree with 3 years of Natural Gas experience
Must have Natural Gas experience
Civil 3D, or AutoCAD, or MicroStation experience with grading and or pipe network function experience.
EIT / PE is not required but preferred
