Job Title: Commissioning Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a commissioning engineer with a mechanical background and experience in the datacenters market. The ideal candidate will help carry out project assignments and participate in various commissioning activities.
Responsibilities
- Participate in daily commissioning activity meetings.
- Carry out equipment pre-start-up procedures.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
- Prepare comprehensive commissioning documentation.
- Prepare commissioning test procedures and reports.
- Develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track commissioning projects.
- Write comprehensive reports including recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
- Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
- Develop and administer functional tests for various systems such as mechanical central chilled water plants, packaged rooftop units, boilers, chillers, computer room air conditioning units, and fire protection systems.
- Conduct integrated system testing and building management system testing.
- Compile all testing procedure results.
Essential Skills
- Experience working within the following markets: Hospitals, Large / Complex Facilities, and Mission Critical Facilities (data centers, telecommunications, or disaster recovery sites).
- Construction and commissioning experience.
- Experience in the Electrical Mission Critical Field.
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with IEEE procedures and protocols.
- Basic knowledge of system design.
- Commissioning certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 10/30 certification a plus.
- Certification with one of the major tech companies (takes about a year to obtain).
- A/E experience working in complex facilities or mission-critical projects.
- Ability to interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners' agents as needed.
- Experience executing project assignments and interacting with all facets of the company including engineering and design.
Work Environment
This role requires 60-65% travel, sometimes necessitating being on-site for 2-3 weeks at a time. The firm offers a variety of project types and has a backlog extending out for 3 years, ensuring consistent project availability.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
