Job Title: Construction Materials Tester / Inspector (CMT)
Job Description
This position involves field observation, inspection, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placement. It requires daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers. The successful candidate will have the ability to perform observations, inspections, and tests on construction projects and document findings according to accepted engineering practices. Following inspections, daily, weekly, and monthly reports must be submitted to verify field data.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field observations and inspections of construction materials.
- Test soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placements.
- Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers.
- Document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practices.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to verify data collected in the field.
Essential Skills
- 2 years of recent field experience in materials testing and inspection.
- Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial construction.
- Certifications such as ACI preferred.
- Experience with soils; concrete experience is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate level computer skills.
- Clean driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in materials testing/special inspection.
- Certifications in ICC (Structural, Concrete Masonry, etc.), NICET, TROXLER, or QMS.
Work Environment
This role requires working in the field nearly 100% of the time, covering projects within residential subdivision developments, and commercial and industrial sectors. The work involves confirming the soil's ability to support construction.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr.
