What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Materials Testing Technician position at Actalent?
Description:
Will arrive to one of their offices in Metro Detroit every morning (7am-8am) and hop in a company vehicle with another technician and head to the job site, which are all around SE MI. Will be back every night. Working around 45- 50 hours/week. Some weekends here and there, paid OT.
Summary:
Will observe contractors on construction sites throughout SE Michigan and will perform testing on soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
Job Duties:
-Observe, measure and perform tests on soil, concrete and/or asphalt on construction sites. This is done before the build of a new structure.
-Take detailed written notes about observations and results, and prepare daily reports of observations and measurements.
-Verify measurements with other Lead Technicians
-Will perform basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and will prepare reports of results
-Verify conformance of projects with approved construction documents
-Will perform maintenance and calibrate/verify status of lab test equipment
Will compile, analyze, compute, edit, and process the lab data and accurately perform various tests
-Communicates with clients when on job site, as well as other team members, daily

MUST HAVES:
Bachelors or Associates in Engineering, Construction, Environmental Science, Geology, or similar technical degree
1 plus year of experience performing field testing (concrete, construction materials, soil, etc)
Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
Valid Drivers License
Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel
Nice to Haves:
MCA, ACI, ICC or other technician certs
OSHA 30 Hour cert
MUST Training
Ability to read blueprints
