Construction Observer
Actalent is looking for a full-time Construction Observer to support our client, a leading local civil engineering firm, onsite in Urbandale, IA.
Description:
The Construction Observer will work on roadway focused projects for the IDOT. There is a relatively large project that is kicking off in August that this individual will work heavily on. This project is in the Des Moines area and is slated to take around 3 years to complete. Looking for an individual with experience inspecting roadway projects including concrete, asphalt, bridge, storm, and sanitary sewer. Experience on Federal projects is a plus!
This role will be in central Kansas for the first few months to train with senior construction managers before the Des Moines project starts. There will be more work in the Des Moines area following the 3 year project as well. This role includes a work truck, gas card, and all hotels will be paid for as well. You will also receive standard Federal rate per diem!
- Oversee and manage the construction administration phase.
- Direct construction administration activities on projects.
- Monitors projects for construction document compliance.
- Work with project managers to establish project procedures and implement them in the field.
- Perform observation and material testing of projects.
- Receive and distribute test reports.
- Prepares punch list and close-out procedures and performs post-construction services and investigations as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 2 years experience in a construction role.
- ACI Field Concrete certification preferred.
- Valid drivers license.
- Travel is required for first 3 months.
