Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will lay out and create electrical drawing packages in accordance with existing standards, customer specifications, and NFPA codes. You will create controls and device communication schemes, develop programs for PLCs and Safety PLCs, and assist with on-site installations. Additionally, you will provide documentation for control systems and ensure that all electrical aspects of projects are completed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical drawing packages conforming to customer specifications and NFPA codes.
• Develop controls and device communication schemes and layouts.
• Create Bill of Materials, layouts, and schematics for control panels.
• Specify and acquire necessary parts and materials.
• Oversee the construction and testing of control panels.
• Develop PLC and Safety PLC programs.
• Create HMI screens based on similar customer equipment.
• Coordinate with installation departments, field electrical personnel, and customers regarding installation requirements.
• Assist with on-site installations when possible.
• Travel as required for project meetings, on-site inspections, installations, and commissioning.
• Provide documentation for control systems, including schematics, manuals, and training.
• Specify electrical purchased parts.
• Provide on-site direction for electrical aspects of installation.

Essential Skills

• Extensive PLC programming experience, including design, programming, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design.
• Ability to prepare technical drawings and specifications for electrical systems.
• Experience with Siemens and Mitsubishi PLCs is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to estimate project costs and requirements.
• Experience in designing, implementing, maintaining, or improving electrical instruments, equipment, and systems.
• Ability to confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss engineering projects or products.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $71.39 - $93.36/hr.
