Description:
• The Formulation Chemist will be responsible for the development of products and technologies based on the company’s core technologies and markets to create both custom and stock solutions for the company’s client base • Design, plan and execute research and development initiatives using analytical tools, and enhance the company’s position in the marketplace relative to application knowledge • Works closely with sales, marketing and customers to define and execute plans and projects, while applying the highest standards with minimal supervision • Develops/improves products, meeting both market and customer-specific needs • Uses available chemistries to develop both personal care and surface care products that are unique and bring added value to the company’s client base • Works within the requirements of both customer expectations and regulatory agencies • Develop formulation library and formulation cost worksheets • Customer, Marketing, and Manufacturing Support • Serves as customers’ technical consultant in assigned market areas • Assists and guides customers in selection and evaluation of products • Provides data for sales and marketing literature • Prepares presentations/papers for internal/external meetings • Assists with transition from lab to commercial production of new products • Participates in quality and process improvement programs • Advises the company regarding regulatory requirements • Assists with formulation blending validation and protocol development • Provides analytical support to operations for both new and existing formulations • Support of manufacturing operations as required by site and business needs • Maintains technical records and reports • Prepares project status and technical reports • Assists with product stability testing/evaluations and provides appropriate documentation thereof • Maintains timely, and accurate records in order to provide the data required to properly execute/address all inquiries and to safeguard experimental data • Utilize necessary internal and external resources (Engineering, Purchasing, Maintenance, Operations, Operations Support, Customer Service, Costing, Sales/Marketing) to deliver consistent information to the BLT (Business Leadership Team) • Plans, executes, and communicates effectively and efficiently using project management principles and tools • Contributes to others’ projects in a proactive manner • Motivates and engages associates in projects • Continues to acquire skills and knowledge needed for personal development • Provides training for technicians and less experienced chemists • Establishes and maintains excellent relationships with external agencies that can serve the company as centers of influence • Represents the company in these bodies and in other high level internal and external organizations that set direction for technology and related fields • Maintains current knowledge with EPA, FDA, and FTC regulatory guidelines and requirements • Manages product development chemical inventory • Assists in chemical disposal • Interacts with peers and customers with professionalism and respect

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry • 7 years chemist/formulation experience • 5 years non-woven converting or related industry experience • In depth working knowledge of organic chemistry • Working knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques • Statistical analysis of data • Familiar with EPA, FDA, and FTC regulatory guidelines and requirements • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills • Works effectively on and across multi-functional teams • Proficient computer skills, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products • Work safely and promote safety in projects and systems • Familiar with necessary SDS’s
