Description:
The main function of a Lab Technician is to support the testing and development of computer-related equipment for datacenter applications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute tests on data center compute and cooling hardware.
- Assemble and modify existing pieces of equipment to meet special needs.
- Build test and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
- Monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.
- Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
- Provide training and support to system designers and users.
Basic Skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
Technical Skills:
- Experience working with datacenter compute hardware - such as servers network switches power delivery units etc.
- Experience executing and modifying scripts for compute hardware testing including scripting tools such as Python CLI SSH Redfish Postman etc.
- Experience working with UNIX or Linux based operating systems.
- Experience reworking computer circuit boards - i.e. soldering components onto printed circuit boards.
- Experience with electronics test equipment including oscilloscopes network analyzers power supplies DVMs emulators etc.
- Experience with server cooling equipment including air cooling liquid cooling and immersion cooling.
