This position is based out of their Beatrice, Nebraska production facility. Compensation dependent upon qualifications.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Responsible for the design & development of driveshaft systems and component designs that exceed customer expectations
• Analyze customer vehicle requirements and translate them into robust designs
• Manage the development plan for the responsible programs (DVPR, DFMEA, CAE, calculations)
• Document actions for future program evidence
• Organize and facilitate periodic design reviews
• Manage engineering changes for drawing and/or engineering BOM (Bill of Material) release
o Review and approve all customer/internal drawings
o Define & maintain program BOMs
• Interface activity with engineering peers at the customer, supply base, and across all functions
• Support the PD and internal organization gaining customer approval for product/process changes and trials
• Provide PD support for manufacturing issues, new model launches and technical support on customer issues
• Responsible for design definition and initiating procurement of required material to support prototype builds and validation within program timing constraints
• Initiate and manage prototype activity for responsible program including post-test analysis, teardown and reports in support of development plans
• Support root cause analysis activities related to warranty or quality returns, initiating 8D reporting as necessary
• Support robust APQP process with suppliers and customers including supplier PPAP review and sign off on design requirements
• Lead and support various cost reduction, R&D activity and other company initiatives
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Demonstrated technical and professional skills in the job-related area
• High level of analytical ability
• High level of interpersonal skills to work independently & effectively with others
• High level of oral & written communication skills
• Design & release experience with driveline, powertrain, or chassis systems
• Familiarity with CAE tools, Six Sigma quality techniques, and powertrain NVH
• Familiarity with iron castings, steel forgings, aluminum, heat treat, and weld techniques
• Familiarity with TS-16949 and automotive PPAP requirements
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (such as BSME)
